Dane DeHaan, Mia Goth Joining Gore Verbinski's 'A Cure for Wellness'

Dane DeHaan, Mia Goth Joining Gore Verbinski’s ‘A Cure for Wellness’

Director Gore Verbinski has found the leads for his supernatural horror project A Cure for Wellness: Dane DeHaan and Mia Goth.

Revolutionary Road scribe Justin Haythe is writing the script for the New Regency project.

Wellness tells the story of an employee (DeHaan) who is sent to rescue his boss from a European “wellness spa” but soon realizes he’s trapped, and discovers that the facility has a more sinister purpose than just serving the health needs of its patients. Goth, who is in negotiations for the role, will play a longtime patient who is oblivious to the spa director’s dark designs for her.

Verbinski, who is also producing through his Blind Wink Productions, last made a horror film (The Ring) in 2002. Since then, he’s focused on the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise, Rango and The Lone Ranger. He’s repped by CAA.

Production is slated to start in Europe in June, and the film will be distributed worldwide through New Regency’s deal with 20th Century Fox.

DeHaan, who broke out with his role in 2012’s Chronicle, was most recently seen in The Amazing Spider-Man 2and Life After Beth. He’s got quite a few projects in the can, including James Dean pic Life, Tulip Fever and Two Lovers and a Bear. He’s repped by CAA and MGMT Entertainment.

Goth is more of a newcomer. She appeared in Lars von Trier’s Nymphomaniac: Vol. II, and will next be seen in the upcoming all-star adventure movie Everest with Jake Gyllenhaal and Keira Knightley. The British actress is repped by WME, The Curtis Brown Group in the U.K., Storm Artists and 3 Arts Entertainment.

Young Americans [originally titled ‘College Republicans‘] is a film that will reunite actors Dane DeHaan, Daniel Radcliffe and Kill Your Darlingsdirector John Krokidas.

The screenplay, by Wes Jones, topped the 2010 Black List [a list featuring the best un-produced screenplays].

The script is based on a true story from 1973 centred around Karl Rove. Rove, claimed to be played by DeHaan, runs a campaign for national College Republican Chairman. Under the guidance of his campaign manager Lee Atwater, supposedly Radcliffe, Rove’s campaign is far from clean.Their campaign includes a wild road trip intended to drum up support. Despite all the political machinations, however, the focus is really on the friendship between the two, and that’s something that Radcliffe and DeHaan could do a lot with.” [from entertainmentwise.com]

From an interview with Daniel Radcliffe:
“If you had a dream project – if there was a movie of any size or scale – whatever – that you could do, what would it be?”

Radcliffe: “Well at the moment the project that I really want to do is called College Republicans. Hopefully, it would be with myself and Dane DeHaan and John Krokidas who directed Kill Your Darlings. And we’d all sort of get to work together again. So hopefully – at the moment, like that’s my dream project. ‘Cause it’s been up and down for a few years now in terms of if we’re gonna get it done. So, at the moment, that’s my dream” [http://youtu.be/MrI5iBh-3dM?t=7m12s]

Encouraged by John Krokidas via twitter (@krokasaurusrex), we are making this petition to say we would love for this film to get made. We adored Dan, Dane & John’s work in Kill Your Darlings and we very much want to see more from them.

Dane DeHaan during LIFE press conference (Berlinale 2015): LIFE movie review from Dane fan who got to see it

“LIFE” through the eyes of a fan: a review of the movie from Dane-DeHaan.org’s visitor

Our website’s visitor tumblr user gofuckupyourmind got to see “Life” at the Berlinale International 2015 Film Festival. She was very kind to share her review, as well as some of photos of Dane taken by her during the festival. Please read the review below, and don’t forget to check her tumblr page!

I just go to watch the film without any expectations. I just want it to surprise me.
I heard from the film that Robert Pattionson should play the leading role, but after watching it I have to say that Dane plays a similarly important part!
My first thought after hearing that Dane plays James Dean was “Is he he right person to play Dean??”
And after whatching the movie I can say YES HE IS!
It was great! The character is a misunderstood, mysterious, rebellious person. And this is a perfect character for Dane to play! Cause he seems to love it and if we’re honest we love it too.
During the movie you understand more and more why he think like he does and why he acts like he does. You will understand what made James Dean to this icon he is today.
Summing up: If you liked ‘Kill your Darlings’ (I love it!) you have to watch this movie(It’s kind of similar sort of film)! If it come out in your country go to the cinema and watch it! Dane is so fantastic. And you learn more about James Dean and his short life aswell.

Tatiana Maslany, Dane DeHaan to Star in Indie Drama ‘Two Lovers and a Bear’

Two Lovers and A Bear starring Dane DeHaan & Tatiana Maslany will be filmed both in Ontario and Iqaluit later this spring

Auditions are being held in Iqaluit this week for an independent movie that will be filmed both in Ontario and Iqaluit later this spring.

Ellen Hamilton, a co-producer on Two Lovers and A Bear, says the film will star Tatiana Maslany from the TV show Orphan Black and Dane DeHaan, a critically acclaimed up-and-comer. It has a budget of nearly $10 million.

The movie is about the love between a white man and a woman who is half-white, half-Inuk. It has magical elements such as a talking polar bear.

The film also touches on some of the painful parts of recent Inuit history. Roselynn Akulukjuk, the movie’s third assistant director, says one scene set in an abandoned military base is particularly touching.

“It shows what Inuit went through, like pictures of Inuit going to residential schools or the dogs being killed,” she says.

Director Kim Nguyen’s previous film War Witch was nominated for an Academy Award for foreign-language film.

Auditions for film roles begin on Friday.

Dane DeHaan and Robert Pattinson attend LIFE screening during Berlinale 2015

Expressandstar’s new article mentions “LIFE” and the UK release date

Robert Pattinson has joked it was tortuous being on the other side of the lens for his new movie, Life.

The former Twilight star plays photographer Dennis Stock in Anton Corbijn’s film, which chronicles the friendship between him and Hollywood actor James Dean (played by Dane DeHaan) after they worked together on a shoot for Life magazine.

“I do feel like being a paparazzi for a second – I do empathise with their plight,” the 28-year-old actor quipped. “I was filled with self-loathing, wretchedness – I wanted to really kind of harm myself at the end of every day.”

Rob attended the film’s premiere at the Berlin Film Festival with co-star Dane at the Grand Hyatt Hotel. Dane said: “It’s a movie about two artists who get to know each other through working with each other, and I feel that’s what we did on this film.”

Since leaving his Twilight role of vampire Edward Cullen, Rob has starred in dystopian thriller The Rover and David Cronenberg’s dark drama Maps To The Stars. He will be seen in Werner Herzog’s upcoming drama Queen Of The Desert alongside Nicole Kidman and James Franco.

He said of his loyal followers: “You just hope people enjoy every week that you do. I’m doing stuff that’s all very different so it’s quite surprising when I see them enjoying this, The Rover and stuff like that.”

Life will be released in UK cinemas on September 25.

Dane DeHaan as Harry Osborn: The Amazing Spider-man 3 is going to happen?

‘Sinister Six’ Delayed Following Sony & Marvel’s Spider-Man Deal

Fanboys and -girls around the globe are no doubt still celebrating last night’s surprising announcement that Sony and Marvel would partner to produce new Spider-Man films, and integrate the character into the Marvel Cinematic Universe. But what does that mean for what was to be Sony’s first “Amazing Spider-Man” spinoff, “Sinister Six”?

According to the Wall Street Journal, “Sinister Six” will remain in development at Sony, but it’s been delayed indefinitely. WSJ writes that the studio is “rethinking” its plan for the flick, and it has been pulled from its initial release date of November 11, 2016.

While that’s never a good sign for a movie, WSJ’s report indicates that Sony still wants to move forward with the film, and so far, Drew Goddard (“Cabin in the Woods”) is still on board to write and direct. Still, not knowing when the movie may come out may cause some of “Sinister”‘s high-profile cast members — including Jamie Foxx, Paul Giamatti, Rhys Ifans, and Dane DeHaan — to bolt from the project, putting it in even more uncertain waters.

Letting go of the flick might be in Sony’s best interest, since one of the driving forces behind its agreement to the Marvel partnership was that the “Amazing Spider-Man” films under-performed; gathering together a group of lesser-known villains from that same universe into a different movie may not have worked out, either. Still, nothing is set in stone yet, and Marvel’s production company is known for building hits around unlikely protagonists (see: “Guardians of the Galaxy”).

Stay tuned.
