“College Republicans” news from Daniel Radcliffe

College Republicans news starring Dane DeHaan and Daniel Radcliffe by John Krokidas

Today is Daniel Radcliffe‘s birthday (Happy 25th, Dan!). Dan was recently interviewed by The Daily Beast.
Among other interesting topics, he also talked about College Republicans, and said that it’s looking like it will happen, once he, Dane DeHaan and John Krokidas can get their schedules to line up.
You can read more details from Dan below:

You’re attached to reunite with your Kill Your Darlings director Jon Krokidas and co-star Dane DeHaan in College Republicans, with you playing a young Lee Atwater and DeHaan playing a young Karl Rove. Is that happening?
DAN:I don’t know at the moment! It’s looking really good, and it’s a fantastic script. That’s the plan—Dane as Karl and me as Lee—but trying to get the three of us in the same place at one time is tricky. It would make a really good movie because I don’t think people know that story at all. Like Kill Your Darlings, it’s a story about the genesis of a very important American cultural phenomenon that nobody really knows about. It’s fascinating how much of the neo-conservative ideal was born in a Ford Pinto driving around the South between Lee and Karl. It’s a serious true story, but it’s witty.

‘Life’ Will Release In 2015 “We still have two more months of sound and [potential] pick-up shoots” ~ Anton Corbijn

Dane DeHaan as James Dean in Life

Anton Corbijn was interviewed by CraveOnline where he spoke about how he wanted Phillip Seymour Hoffman involved in Life and also confirmed that Life would release in 2015.

Here’s an excerpt from the interview:

You mentioned recently that you were trying to get Philip Seymour Hoffman into your next film, Life. What role would that have been?

John Morris. (Who was a photo editor for Life magazine; and who will be played, now, by Joel Edgerton)

Life wasn’t part of the TIFF announcement this morning, is there potential for a 2014 release?

No, that’ll be 2015. We haven’t locked picture yet. We still have two more months of sound and [potential] pick-up shoots.

In your background in photography, you’ve photographed numerous icons. Your first film, Control, was a portrait of the iconic Ian Curtis (singer for Joy Division), who died very young. I guess now we’ve confirmed that next year, you have a film that involves James Dean (to be played by Dane DeHaan) in Life. Who also died very young. Is it more difficult to capture an iconic photograph of an individual in life, or to tell their story in death?

I’m flattered that people think my pictures are iconic. That’s not what I set out to be. A lot of people that I worked with in the 70s and 80s were not very well known people, but they became [well known] later. So I’ve not deliberately sought icons. As far as making films for Ian Curtis and James Dean, that is, of course, is very deliberate. Ian Curtis was someone that I knew and I moved to England to make it because I wanted to make it. It was a personal project. And, also, I thought there was a good love story there (between Sam Riley and Samantha Morton).

With Life it’s first and foremost a story about a photographer, Dennis Stock (Robert Pattinson), who profiled James Dean (DeHaan). So it’s the story of a photographer and their subject. As a photographer that story interested me: studying the power balance between a photographer and their subject. You know, who influences who? The James Dean portion of the story wasn’t my interest. In fact I’d turned down a straight James Dean project once before.

News: Sony moved back its “The Amazing Spider-Man” 3 by two years

The Amazing Spider-Man 2 Garfield Lifting Car - H 2014

The studio has dated The Sinister Six, a movie that features an all-star lineup of Spider-Man villains, for Nov. 11, 2016. As part of the move, Sony moved back its The Amazing Spider-Man 3 by two years to 2018. Amazing Spider-Man 3 and 4 had already been dated for June 10, 2016, and May 4, 2018, respectively.

The studio will move Uncharted into the June 10, 2016, spot. The Seth Gordon-helmed film is an action-adventure based on the best-selling PlayStation video game series that follows the adventures of treasure hunter Nathan Drake.

Sony is very high on Drew Goddard‘s take on the Sinister Six material, which is described as a rough script at this point. Goddard will write and direct the Spider-Man spin-off.

“With Sinister Six in the hands of writer-director Drew Goddard, we feel extremely confident placing the film on a prime date in 2016,” said Doug Belgrad, president of Sony Pictures Entertainment Motion Picture Group.

First introduced in 1964, the original members included Electro, Doctor Octopus, Kraven the Hunter, Mysterio, Vulture and Sandman. Electro, played by Jamie Foxx, was already introduced in Sony’s The Amazing Spider-Man 2 this summer.

It is unclear which villains this incarnation will feature. Among the possibilities include Green Goblin, played by Dane DeHaan in The Amazing Spider-Man 2. The film’s third act dropped so-called Easter eggs for the fans that hinted at potential future villains for the franchise. For instance, Doc Ock’s mechanical arms were seen in the background of one scene. The movie also introduced The Rhino (Paul Giamatti) in its last scene.

Avi Arad and Matt Tolmach are producing Sinister Six.

As for Uncharted, the latest draft of the screenplay is being written by David Guggenheim, and the film will be an Arad/Atlas Entertainment production, produced byCharles Roven, Arad, Alex Gartner and Ari Arad. The video game series was developed by Naughty Dog and published by Sony Computer Entertainment America.

“June 10 is a great date for Uncharted,” Belgrad added. “It’s just the right place for this exciting action-adventure film.”

‘Amazing Spider-Man 2’ Blu-ray gets release date, might have tantalizing deleted scenes

The Amazing Spider-Man 2 live NYC premiere

It probably had little impact on whether you liked The Amazing Spider-Man 2, but some fans were disappointed when the film’s end credits were not punctuated by the teaser that’s become expected from all the Marvel superhero franchises. At the end of director Marc Webb’s first Spider-Man movie, a mysterious figure confronts the imprisoned Dr. Curt Connors and asks, “Did you tell the boy the truth about his father?” But for the sequel, fans were left with a somewhat random promotional clip for Fox’s most recent X-Men movie.

Since then, the internet has speculated that Webb initially intended to include another teaser scene with the mysterious, gravelly-voiced shadow — whom we now know is Gustav Fiers — based on a Sony photo that seems to contain Norman Osborn’s severed but preserved head. Combine that with Webb’s decision to postpone scenes and certain character developmentsuntil the third film, and you have an inordinate amount of interest in the deleted scenes that might be included on the Blu-ray release of The Amazing Spider-Man 2.

EW can announce that Spider-Man 2 is available on Digital HD on Aug. 5 before arriving on Blu-ray and DVD on Aug. 19 – and the release might have something juicy. According to the set’s description, one of the 13 deleted scenes on the Blu-ray is titled “Peter Meets His Father.” Are we foolish to think this could be something more than another flashback, a dream sequence, or another iChat video message? Might Richard Parker (Campbell Scott) actually be alive? Maybe there’s a bookend to that first Spider-Man post-credit teaser: “Did you tell the boy the truth about his father?”
